TIKTBT Notes After First Watch
I found the show to be amazing, it truly felt like a theater experience different from a film or tv show. This show proves just how different and evolved and separated theater and theater-making as an artform is from other similar visual arts. I thought the story was well-paced and was never really bored, the actor's performances were excellent and the emotional aspects of the show were on point. Dysfunctional family dynamics hits close to home for pretty much everyone, and yet regardless it still feels so personal and raw. Being able to see yourself in the characters and stories and at the same time being forced to expand yourself and empathize and listen and watch perspectives and characters you don't relate to provides a great moment for inner dialogue and pushing thought forward. I have had very few pieces of art make me cry as much as this show did, and I believe that to be a great achievement in my mind. I am excited to discuss this show in-depth in the Black Box, as I have many ideas I would like to share and I can't wait to hear what other people have to say.
